Got 8 new Champion spark plugs from Napa and they are gapped at .35.
The ones that I took out were between .30 and .35 on the gap guage. The shop manual says they should be gapped .23.
Anybody know what's best or what's worked best for you?
My car is a 1950 Buick Super with original Straight 8. Manual.

Yes, once converted to 12V, an OE 12V coil will handle .035". It would be possible to increase it beyond that with high performance coils and wiring. One concern as you increase the gap is the old straight 8 wiring cover and running the wires close together could lead to premature failure due to cross firing.
