    1950 Buick convertible decode help

    I recently picked up a 1950 convertible, or at least what i was under the impression was to be a convertible. Tonight when I dug up the trim tag, I found something that worries me. If anyone can help decode the tag I would appreciate it so I can figure out where something might be missing, or maybe not.

    trim tag is as follows:

    950 MOD 50-56R --- this is what worries me, it should be 56C
    style no. 4597
    body no. G15717
    trim 50
    paint 21
    under that is "top" and "acc"
    and then - AC D

    i was was sold this car believing it was an original convertible car, and now my suspicion is that either I'm all off base, or the trim tag was switched at some point, or someone turned it into a convertible... I'm confused and a bit worried. Any and all help is appreciated.

    thanks

    My experience is with the '51, '52, but it probably applies to '50. If someone turned it into a convertible, they may not have used the convertible frame. See if it has extra body mounts and a heavier X member. The convertible frame is shared with the station wagon. You can use the 1952 Chassis Manual in the Reference section to get an idea what I am referring to.
    Should you find the frame to be for a full bodied car, that does not mean the body has been built, it could still be a convertible body that needed a frame.

    Should it turn out to be a built car, doesn't mean it's all bad, I have seen some well put together "built cars".

    The style no. Is 50-4537, not 97 as I first posted. Tag seems like it says riviera, not true convertible.

    1950 MOD 50-56R
    STYLE No. 4537
    BODY No. G 15717
    TRIM 50
    PAINT 21
    TOP ACC ACD

    4537 = Fisher body style number
    4 = Buick
    5 = Series 50 (Super)
    37 = 2-door hardtop (Riviera), 6-passenger
    67 = 2-door convertible, 6-passenger

    BODY No. G 15717
    G = body built at Flint, MI
    15717 = sequential number (only 12,259 model 56C built in 1950 so the body number can't be higher than 12259 since I think all convertible bodies were built at Flint)

    Trim 50 = Grey Herringbone Pattern Cloth, available only on model 51, 52, 56R, 56S
    I think leather trim was standard on the convertibles
    A convertible would have the top code following the trim number (for example 50 B)
    B = Black top
    T = Tan top

    Paint 21 = Niagara Green lower and Verdé Green upper two-tone, available on model 41, 41D, 51, 52, 56R, 71, 72/72R, 75R, 76R

    Accessory option codes (ACC)
    A = Radio and antenna
    C = Heater and defroster
    D = Windshield washer
