    identifying a 1950 buick sedanette super vs special ?

    I just purchase a 1950 buick sedanette that has been disassembled. Body looks good w/little to no rust. My problem is, there is no data plate, so no idea of what I got. The internet doesn't provide hardly any info on the differences between the special or super. My wheelbase is 121.5 in. and a two piece windshield, so I'm pretty sure I have a special, but what model? Any and all information is appreciated, as this is by first buick. Here are some of the numbers found on the vehicle. vin: 45654940 - the 9 looks a little odd radiator: Harrison 3123756 R-24 50D carb: carter 725S intake: 1338252-1 exhaust: 1313674-1 Could not find any number on the frame rails. Thanks, Rick

    Special

    You do indeed have a Special. The Super has a one piece windshield.

    From the small amount of info I have;

    Super model 46-D had body chrome
    built units 76,902

    Special model 46-S did not have any outer chrome moldings
    all Specials were built on 121.5 in. wheelbase.
    built units 8,124

    I think I read both specials and supers were both on the 121.5 frame and the roadmaster was on a 125.5 frame. When I received my buick, I searched for the data plate but couldn't find one. So at this point I don't know if I have a special or a super. Also, my buick has the split windshield, so I'm assuming it's a special. To me it"s really not that important until I start to order parts, so any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks for your input partsman, Rick
