Good Afternoon to All, New member here, we( Dad and I) are in search of a local mechanic (Flagler Beach, FL 32136) to service/repair our 54 buick nailhead/dynaflow setup. our symptoms are the following: 1. trans oil (1/4-1/2 pint) drains after vehicle sits for few days, 2. motor oil is sprayed on underside of frame rails, I have a lift and see the obvious such as valve gaskets, oil filter are good, I need someone familiar to diagnose and fix, maybe rear main seal? head gasket? I run the car back and forth to Orlando 150 miles round trip without incident. any suggestions in the area?
I am not close to you but I do have tech info on my website to help the shop do the job and save you some money. My website is nailheadbuick.com.. If the rear main is leaking a rubber seal can be installed without removing the engine. Have the engine and trans cleaned first so the leaks can be found. The most common engine oil leaks are front and rear of head gaskets, oil filter and rear main seal .. The trans leaks are usually the joint between the torque tube and trans. Russ
