    68 buick riviera

    hello all , new to the forum, need some help with decoding numbers on my 68 riviera i just picked up,,ok here goes

    VIN# 494878H915901
    drivers side front block pad # 8H915901
    drivers rear pad # PD
    block number# 1383424
    intake # B1386881E
    was told that this is a matching numbers car, i just want to findout as much as i can about the numbers if possible thanks very much looking forward to seeing what i have

    VIN = 494878H915901

    4 = Buick
    94 = Riviera
    87 = 2-door hardtop coupe
    8 = 1968
    H = Flint, MI
    915901 = sequential number, range for Riviera was 900001 to 949284

    Engine number = 8H915901
    Matches last 8 of VIN, so original "numbers matching" engine

    PD = engine production code = 1968 430 V8, 4 bbl

    1383424 = 1967-1969 430 V8 block
