Pump gas driver or race car?

almost 600 hp with 38 over 455, weisco pistons, 10.5/1, edelbrock heads, SPX intake, custom ground hydraulic cam.

you will be much better off with aluminum heads, either TA or Eddy.

Pump gas , looking at cast head modifications as in Australia, limited performance gear here for buicks, bolt on parts anyway. Machining not a problem, had to import exhaust gaskets if you know what I mean , as postage will cost as much as motor build lol

first thing is, you'll want to do all of the oil pressure mods and upgrades on the block and timing cover.

whether stock irons or new alum heads you'll definitely want the larger Stage 1 valves installed.

i think TA Performance ships to down under on a regular basis? they've got a new casting Rover / small block Buick alum head which should see a lot of demand in ANZAC as well as other British (ex) territories. it doesn't cost anything to email them and ask.

cam tech has come a LONG way in the last 40 years, getting a new cam is a given. but you're going to have to figure out what kind of rpm you want to turn and how much of a race car this is going to be. for stop light drags or cruising, most people prefer torque in real life.

for the next step, i'd refurbish and recurve the distributor, and rebuild the carb ( careful, don't over torque bolts, the flimsy pot metal that the Quadrajet is made out of warps if over tightened ). you can consider upsizing the carb for an all out performance build but for street use i would try and stay with the 800cfm Quad.

Thanks for info keep it coming lol , Postage is the killer nearly $600 for heads , it cost $ 35 postage for $10 exhaust gaskets so unless neccesery you try not to get parts from USA unless no choice unfortunatly ,

    The price!

THE PRICE WE ALL PAY!! for building BUICK'S!! I could have a crate chevy 572 ,750 hp on pump gas for what I have into my carb, intake ,head's and headers, but then I would have just another bowtie ,I DO NOT WEAR TIE'S !!!
