1947 buick 70 series engine
My brother is checking the clearance in the rod bearings on a 47 Roadmaster. He's telling me it has shelled bearings. He talked to some one at Bob's Automobilia, and they said some 47 engines had shelled rod bearings. Thats news to me! I always thought they only had Babited (poured bearings) bearings. Where there is shims between the cap and connecting rod. Can any one tell me if the 1947 70 series had shelled rod bearings??? If this is not so, can a 49, or 50 crank and rods be put into a 47 block as long as both cranks are for the standard transmissions. Thanking you in advance,

My Brother is double checking the serial # to see what year engine it is. I can confirm that information tomorrow....
