89 Park Avenue ignition key stuck in the run position!

    Hello Team Buick,

I have a '89 Park Avenue which has developed a problem with the ignition cylinder. Started the car with no problem.....but when I went to shut the engine off, the ignition cylinder would not turn back to the off position! I had to disconnect the battery to shut the engine off. I tried turning the key back to off position while the engine was off, but no go!

Any suggestions on my dilemma would be much appreciated.

    Thank You,

    Darryl

89 Park Avenue ignition key stuck in the run position problem solved.

    Hello Group,

Finally got around to reading a shop manual and purchased some tools to pull the steering wheel and the ignition. A little time consuming but the ignition was changed and all went well. Just need to straighten the steering wheel on to the correct splines, thought I put back where I removed it from but I guess I didn't.

    Darryl
