Cool What is the easyest way to replace a front trans. Seal on a 1956 buick station wagon?

I have just bought a 1956 buick special station and am trying back to life after 20 years of sleeping,i got her all tune up, got the brakes working Repaired the drivers side floor pan.She will need an exhaust systen , front seat and tires .Seems the longer she runs the better she sounds.BUT it looks like the front seal in the dynaflow transmission is leaking pretty good.I did one some 20 years ago but could use a refresher course.Any ideas. Thanks Bruce.

Add about a pint & a half of brake fluid to the trans. This will soften the hardened seals & many times will stop the leak permanently. If not all it cost was some brake fluid. It will NOT harm the trans. in any way.

    1956 buick station wagon

Tom, thanks for the tip about the brake fluid .I thought brake fluid would work for a while then destroy the bands? The car isnt on the road yet but i have a long winding mountop drive way .How long should i keep driving it up and down the drive before i give up if it doesnt work. Your friend from the smoky mountians. Bruce.

I've never heard mention of brake fluid harming the bands. What do you think most trans conditioners/sealers contain??? Just leave it in there or until it all leaks out.
