Yes I would appreciate those links for oil passage mods and I will ask Napa about everything you've shared with me. Thank you so much for all the suggestions!

when I rebuilt my 300, I used a kit to rebuild the oil pump - when I first fired it up I had 5-10lbs oil pressure; NOT acceptable.
I checked the springs in the relief valve and found the spring from the kit was 1/2" shorter than the original pump. Put the old spring
in the rebuilt pump and now have 25-35lbs pressure

    1971 350 carb adjustment

My 71 350 has a quadra jet on it ( not sure what year) and it is burning too rich. There is a lot of carbon coming out the exhaust and you can smell the gas from the exhaust. It also runs like its running rich when driving it but runs fine at idle. . How do I adjust the carb?

No the oil pressure is still low even after putting a high capacity oil pump on. There is oil pressure, but it is extremely low at warm idle. The motor is coming back out Monday for Napa to try to figure out the oil pressure problem. When Napa built the engine they used a 72 master kit. Do you have any recomendations for more Hp under $500 without using 1971 pistons needing higher octane gas?

I had a rebuilt 340 with an oil pressure issue like yours. The machine shop had pressed one of the oil gallery plugs too deep - blocking the passage. I'd sort this out, and then figure out what to do from there. There are many that rebuild carbs here. It sounds like yours is due. Maybe you could send your out while your engine is out.
