i would try a dipstick from a 70s / early 80s era Buick 231 v6. practically speaking, the 231 is a 300 v8 with two cylinders knocked off and overbored to the Buick 350 piston diameter.
I have a 66 Special with a 300 engine, I have also the original dip stick but there is no tube from the engine block up. Can anyone tell me how long this tube is or where I might get a new one. THANKS

My '67 300 has no tube. The dipstick stopper sits directly on the flat area of the block where the dipstick hole is. Ditto for my '66 340.
Likewise, my 64 300 has no tube, neither does my 64 425. my 455 DOES have a dipstick tube
