    straight 8 transmission

    hey i was wondering if anyone knew if the straight 8 263 and nailhead had the same bellhousing pattern? i wanted to run a later nailhead th400 on my 263-8 thanks for the help - nick

    Hopefully, you have already found the answer to this question by now, but if you haven't, the 263 and nailhead bellhousings are completely different. The 263 and 320 bellhousings are different from each other and there are also two different nailhead bellhousings. The nailhead changed between 56 and 57.

    Bendtsens makes an adaptor to bolt a Chevy pattern transmission behind a straight 8, but it costs $1000 and pushes the transmission back a few inches, which may be enough to cause floor tunnel interference.
