Thread: 57 Buick Special Frame off project.

Red face 57 Buick Special Frame off project.

I recently purchased a 57 Buick Special 4 door. I was originally looking at redoing the front suspension, I found that the backend of the frame is rusted and needs a lot of work. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good replacement frmae that I could use. Maybe a sub-frame from a 81 Pontiac?

    Let me know,
    Kevin

GM full-size cars got quite a bit shorter starting with the 77 models. You might want to measure the wheelbase on that 81 frame before you lay down your money. If it is too short, look at 76 and earlier frames.

I am assuming you need a full frame because you said the back end of yours was rust-damaged. If you really want just the front end, look at a subframe from a Camaro/Firebird or Nova/Omega/Ventura/Apollo, etc.

I agree, a lot of measurements will be needed. I was hoping that someone has already done this and can lend a hand or give some body types that I can start looking into.

    Thanks again,
    Kevin-
