Dual carb and exhaust in 41 and 42

    Question for you guys.
Was there a factory option for dual carbs and exhausts on the 41-42 Buick?
I have seen dual exhausts but this old guy started tellin me all Buick ever had was dual carbs from the factory, never a dual exhaust on the straight 8
Am I crazy or is he?

Collect your bet. We have at least one member here who has one of those exhaust manifolds. Maybe he will chime in when he sees this.

The guy was so pompous. He was tellin me he appraised cars for 40 years and knew that it was not an option. Wanted to bet me $100. I am a low buck guy, $20 is a lot to me. I was tellin him I have seen em on the internet... He said he did not trust the net...
Gah! This is why I don't go to car shows and I had to deal with this guy in the parking lot. Just trying to drive and love on my Buick.

The early 40's OEM Buick compound carbureation had twin 2 bbl carbs, and a split exhaust manifold. By split, I mean dual exhaust manifolds - each with a heat riser for its respective carb. However, these twin exhaust manifolds dumped into a Y collector and the cars had one exhaust pipe and muffler. Most guys running this set up convert the exhaust system into dual exhaust pipes and muflers...

Dual carbs were standard on the 41-42 Super and Roadmaster, and optional on the 41-42 Special . The exhaust was like cast headers. it had 2 four cylinder sections that dumped into a "Y" pipe. .This went to a long single muffler.
many put duals on as it was a simple thing .
