Hey guys, im new here. Im the new proud owner of 1970 Buick Skylark that has been cloned into a stage 1 GS. The car has a 430 BBB and Turbo 400 tranny. Im going to have quite a few questions as im new to the Buick side of performance(Chevy guy previously). Just wanted to say Hi, and im glad to be here. Brandon

    it has a *430*?

strange, that's not year correct ( 430 / 400 production ran from 1967 to 1969, all BBB were 455 from 1970 to 1976 ) AND it gives up 25 cubes. ah well, you take what you can get.

the 430 will have the high compression heads so you've got that going for you if you ever find a good 1975-76 block that you want to convert too. the heads on the 75-76 engines are extreme low comp and aren't good for much unless you're going forced induction, but they ARE the stongest blocks.

Yep its a 430. At least that is what the previous owner told me. Apparently that is what he found when he was ready to make the swap.

    Welcome and good luck.
My advice, from a previous Chevy guy. Toss out Chevy knowledge and learn the Buick details. I did, and the Buick engines are so much more fun to run than the other stuff.
