    Mike, that's great news, and your explanation makes perfectly good sense. Stock GM 12V solenoids (pre-HEI) have an extra terminal which bypasses the resistor while cranking, but as you said, this is a universal switch which might be used on any make of car.

    Now how about the engine cranking with the switch in the RUN position? Did that problem go away too?

    I actually fixed the problem of my starter cranking in the run position. If I remember correctly there are three wires attached to the positive terminal of my starter: 1 came directly from the battery, 1 went to a relay attached to the firewall, and 1 went to the ignition lock cylinder. After I had the starter rebuilt, I just placed them back onto the positive terminal of the starter and didn't pay attention to which of the three wires went on first. After I noticed my starter was engaging in the run position, I simply pulled three wires off the starter and placed them back on in a different combination and that fixed it. I don't understand why this worked, so i'd appreciate any wisdom here.
