I actually fixed the problem of my starter cranking in the run position. If I remember correctly there are three wires attached to the positive terminal of my starter: 1 came directly from the battery, 1 went to a relay attached to the firewall, and 1 went to the ignition lock cylinder. After I had the starter rebuilt, I just placed them back onto the positive terminal of the starter and didn't pay attention to which of the three wires went on first. After I noticed my starter was engaging in the run position, I simply pulled three wires off the starter and placed them back on in a different combination and that fixed it. I don't understand why this worked, so i'd appreciate any wisdom here.
