I have a regisyered 1970 buick skylark but the vin shows it to be a 1969 skylark. any one know if they came out in 69 1/2/ like the mustang sorry i'm in wrong thread my car is not stolen

The title is for a 1970 buick skylark and the vin# match the title. The plat looks like it has not been tampered with
Ok, then here is what I think might have happened:
Back in the day, some states would allow a new car to be titled for the calendar year in which it was first sold. I have encountered this on cars sold new in the 1940s and even a few sold in the 50s. So, for example, if a 1951 car was still on the dealer's lot after Dec 31, 1951, it could be titled as a 1952.
All of these states eventually changed their laws to require that the title year match the model year. I don't know what year the last of these laws was changed, but your car is definitely the latest one I have heard of this happening to up till now.
