The final 4 indicates that the engine came out of a Special. The preceding digits are the sequential prodiction number. 1955 production began with 720080 and 1956 began with 1460023, so you probably have a late production 1955 264.

I just picked up a nailhead and the block number , just below the center of the driver's side head is 14297464. I can find nothing close to this anywhere. I have checked and double checked the number several times and this is definately the number stamped on the black. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
