Talking Carb Buick skylark 1966 / 300 CI

    Hello,

I have a Buick skylark 1966 with the little 300CI and a 2 barrel Rochester carb.
It is a good thing to change for a 4 barrel carb or it change nothing about power ?
    Thanks for your answers

    Thumbs up

Really wouldnt do much except ruin your gas mileage. The 4bbl 300 had higher compression 10:25:1 over the 2bbl at 9:1.

    OK thanks for your answer.
    I keep my old 2 barrel rochester : )
    I have one exhaust output.
I imagine a good two output exhaust with a good exhaust headers do some more power ?
This following exhaust headers for a 350 is compatible with my 300CID ???

    sorry, NO.

when Buick bumped the displacement up to 350ci in 1968 they ALSO swapped the valve order around. you can't swap anything in the top end of the engine ( intake, cam, head, exhaust ) from the 350ci to the earlier engines ( 215, 300, 340 ).

the GOOD NEWS is that you CAN get headers and other parts for the 300. look for Land Rover v8 engines. the original, all aluminum 3.5L British Leyland / Land Rover v8 is exactly the same as the all aluminum Buick 215ci. lots of Rover engines were bumped up to 4.6L in later years and you can even find 5.0L and larger variants. the biggest area of concern with a Rover header is that the 215ci / Rover engines all have a shorter deck height than your 300ci and that may cause some fitment issues.

I think they are a waste of money on a stock 300-2bbl.But heres a link http://www.sandersonheaders.com/Buick-340/ The factory manifolds are fine, the 300 isn't a performance motor. If your looking for more zip, change your rearend gears. But once again, you will lose gas mileage.

It is possible to by tires like 235/60/15 on my Buick skylark 1966 4.9L ( 300CID ) ??
