Start checking your grounds right behind your headlights.
1968 GS 350
When I turn on the headlights, the rear lights won't work. No tail lights, no brake lights or backup lights.
From checking, there isn't current going to the intermediate harness from the fuse block, but only when the headlights are on.
Any idea on why this is?
It followed me home. Can I keep it?
Start checking your grounds right behind your headlights.
You can check also:
When your Parklight in 1st Stage(=Parkinglight Front an Rear) from your Lightswitch is working and in 2nd Stage (= Parkinglight Front and Rear "PLUS" High-or lowbeam) doesn't work,it looks like a broken Lightswitch.I mean its 2 diferent Circuits(1 for Parkinglight and one for High-or Lowbeam)they have no connection between them.
Your Fuses are OK ? Do you have the old Glastubefuses?
Many Times i had haved Problems, like this, with rusty Fuseholderclamps, they looks OK,but they have under real Power (Headlamps on) too less ,or no Contact.
Your Backuplight is only working with no Lights or only Parkinglight?
You have a compaktswitch( High-Lowbeam/Backuplamps) on your Steeringcoloum? maybe its burned out, shortcurcuit?
Or You have a Feetswitch? take away the Carped and check the stiched Contacts for Corrosion or shortcurcuit to ground.
And the Brakelight work without Headlamps? that all looks like a Fuseproblem..
(look also for absolutly good clean and tight Batterypoleshoes and groundcable)
(sorry for my Schoolenglish )
Hope it will help You a little...

All the lights you mentioned are fused, except for the headlights. Those are fed from a thermal breaker on the headlight switch. I assume you have already checked the fuses for all of these circuits. Did you also check for power at the fuse clips? For the reverse lights you will need to check with the ignition switch in the "Run" position.
Is anything else not working that is powered from the ignition switch? Do your parking lights work? How about rear turn signals? Those use the same bulb filaments (and rear wiring) as the brake lights.
