    Hydro-Lectric replacement

My car is a 1952 Roadmaster 76R, so seat and windows only, no top. I want to replace all of the original cylinders with electric linear actuators.

Has anyone here actually done this? If yes, can you recommend a vendor and part numbers which you used and also describe any problems you had to work around?

If no, can anyone here offer an opinion of whether this kind of conversion is practical, and if you don't think it will work, why not?

I appreciate all comments, either negative or positive, and will do my best to answer any questions you may have. The car is stock for the most part, except that I have converted the electrical system to 12 volts and replaced the Dynaflow with a manual transmission.

Thank you in advance for your help with this.

I think it is a great idea. We use electric linear actuators at work as replacements for hydraulic cylinders on paint line (roads) equipment and they work great. It will just require a little fabrication work. The worst part is all your beautiful engineering and fabrication work will be hidden.

Suntree, that's good news. Thanks for the encouragement.

I think I can handle the fab work ok, but my main concern at this point is finding actuators that will fit within the space available. That's why I was hoping that someone else had tried this before me.
