    Lightbulb 56 Special Gasser help

Hi guys after trying sell my Buick I have decided to build it and I was hoping to get some help (info) on raising the stance of my 56 Buick Special. I was wanting to get a gasser stance without the straight axle so it is reversible. I know the chevy tri-5's use ball joint spacers and bigger springs or coil spacers but being a buick you cant just buy ball joint spacers or I haven't been able to find any. I was wondring if anyone has done this what springs they used etc...

    Thank you, Adam

A 56 Buick wouldn't have ball joints. Instead, it uses the older style spindles with kingpins. To change the ride height significantly you need to modify the spindle support or "upright" as it is sometimes callled.

As the uprights carry the entire front end weight, this modification has to be done by a certfied welder who knows how to do a proper job on them. It was much easier for most builders of gasser-looking street rods (and I suppose real gassers, too) to change to the beam axle and leaf springs instead.
