1955 GM cable shoes, special connectors

    Hi,

i´m gona to rebuild the wiring harness for my 1955 Century. Does anybody know a shop who still sells those special connectors and original cable shoes?

I´m also looking for a diagram which shows the lenght of each wire.
Of course i have the old harness and also the wiring diagrams but it would be much more easy in case of ordering the right amount of wires.

    Thanks

When I replaced my taillight housings, the replacement housings did not have the pressed in brass receptacle for the 1157 taillight. I found a replacement receptacle for 1157 bulbs, from NAPA. It was'nt an exact match. But it works.

Sorry - I have never seen one!!!

I think you are out of luck. I have been messing around with old cars since the 1960's - and I have NEVER seen a wiring diagram that had the length of wire on it - for any model or make of car. You're best bet will be your original wiring harness. Lay it out on the floor or tack it to a 4' X 8' sheet of plywood and match it. The only other tip I can offer is - try looking at www.riwire.com or Google - "Rhode Island Wiring". You might try and contact them for connectors. I have no experience with these people so, be wary! - caveat emptor prevails - which means - "let the buyer beware". BluesBrothersBuicks

    Thanks a lot !

I think Rhode Island Wiringis is a very a good tip. I called them and probably i`ll get all my cable shoes there. Unfortunately they don´t offer a set of cable shoes for an specific harness. So i will have to count and measure all the cable shoes.

By the way i began to reproduce the bakelit connectors my own.
Made a 2K silicon form and used polyurethan casting resin. Works fine ! :-)
