    1964 Electra Rear End Gears

Hi Everyone, new to your board. I'm getting my '64 Electra convertible fixed up slowly, can anyone tell me what the rear end gears should have been for this car? I looked in the reference section but I didn't find anything. TIA Mike

More than likely a 3.07 gear ratio. Could also be a 2.92/3.23 etc. On the '64 if you clean the very bottom of the carrier, right in the center, you should find some numbers. 07 would mean 3.07. 23=3.23/42=3.42/92=2.92, etc. The Buick gears are 9 3/8ths. ring gear with 12 bolts holding on the ring gear to the case. There is NO other rear gears that fit the Buick's. If the fill plug has a 3/4" square it's a Posi unit. If the fill plug has a 3/8" square you can fit a 3/8" extension into it's an open rear.
