Any one have a suggestion for a wiring kit for a 53 super Riviera or a good shop that does this in Michigan. I found a few companies on the net that offer period style wiring harnesses but they are close to 900 bucks. I do not really care if it is cloth wrapped (period style) or not just looking fo a good harness set up.
If any one has ever done this before I would gladly take any input.
Thanks
I've personally rewired 2 cars and a pickup over the last few years. If you have any talent at all for repair, it's simply a matter of separating the harness into individual wires, tracing them and replacing them. All you need is a good pair of terminal crimpers/wire cutters, several different colors of wire in mostly 14 and 16 gauge, and a variety of terminals. You can check the gauge of a wire to be replaced using the stripper part of the crimper. A wiring diagram would be nice, but I didn't have one for any of my projects. It takes time and patience, but it's heck of a lot cheaper than buying one already made. Also, when you're finished, you won't have any trouble finding problems (if there are any in the future) in the wiring system. Patience!
