Whats up everyone ! I have a 62 Buick Special and I love this car !!!! I have a while yet before I need to rebuild or replace my engine or tranny. What do you want to do ? Rebuild the 198 ? High performace parts for that 1st generation V6 are hard to find. I should be able to get all the other goodies that I need. Will the 225 bolt up to that dual turbine transmission? Can I bore the 198 out o 225 ? Parts are still hard to find ! I could always slap a 215 in there with out much problem . My numbers won't match anymore but that little thing will fly . Those old aluminum blocks are exspensive but there are bokuu performance options. Feel free to post up your opinion ! or we can get sidetracked onto something else regarding our 62's ..............
Welcome!!!
As you know you are limited by the bellhousing pattern of the 215 or 198 engine. As far as I know there are no adapters to make your trans work with a 225, 231, or Buick 350 engine.
In my opinion either:
1. Add a turbocharger tot he stock 198 engine
2. Keep it all stock and enjoy it for what it is
3. Consider swapping in a Th 350 and Buick 350. These can be found for very little $ ready to drop in.
I Know a guy who swapped in a Twin Turbo Buick 350 into his 62 Buick, he is pretty happy.
