Where to look for rust on a 1970-1971 Buck Skylark Convertible?

    Hi all,

We need some help. We're going to look at a 1971 Buick Skylark convertible tomorrow. Where are the most common areas for rust on these cars?

Any help on what to look for...and possible trim tag decoding would be great!

    Thanks in advance...

    Bruce

    A few places:

    > Core support around the battery
    > Also opposite side where the support meets the inner wheelhouse
    > Fenders, lower under the side markers and rear of fender at the rocker panel
    > Door, lower edge of door
    > Quarter Panel, front lower at the rocker panel and rear under side marker
    > Trunk, under spare tire and at the rear panel.

These are the places that are curved and do not drain very well. The trunk because of the top well and how bad the trunk weatherstrip has aged over time if it was never replaced.

As for the Fisher Plate coding just post it, there are plenty on this site that can translate.

Nice l@@king Lark, sure doesn't look like there is any major rust issues with that convertible.
