Count the coils on the springs that are on the car and compare that count with the coils on the stock replacement springs.
I have a 53 Special that was lowered prior to me purchasing it and I want to raise it back up. While on the lift at my friends shop there has been alot of debate on how it was lowered. Many think the springs were cut and there are a few that believe the steering knuckle support was changed or modified. Does anyone know if they made an aftermarket steering knuckle support to aid in lowering the car. I purchased new springs already but there still in the box. We wanted to do this once and if I need to purchase new "original" steering knuckle support I found them at Old Buick Parts and can do it all at once.
Thank you.

yes there are lowering spindles available for your Buick. Just for a quik check. If the kingpin knuckle is located closer to the upper end of the upright and has some welds its the lowering type. If its more to the bottom its stock. Also if the rubber bumpstop on the lower A arm is close to the frame its probably just a cut coil drop. It could be both. i
