    1957 dynaflow torque ball seal

    Hi guys,
Just wondering if you Buick wizards could give me some advice regarding the torque ball.
Long story short, Dynaflow is been fully overhauled about 5 years ago, replaced the torque ball seal and a couple of weeks ago the oil came running out because the seal split. Didn't exactly separated from the housing, but the rubber itself split. Now my question is: Is there supposed to be transmission oil that far down in the transmission. Looking at the torque ball I can hardly imagine that it's designed as a 100% tight seal. Looks more like something to keep dust and dirt out. My mechanic told me that it's definitly designed to keep the transmission oil in, that there is no other seal other then that one keeping the oil in. So I'm just wondering whether the split in the rubber was due to a manufactoring error or poor quality or whether it is not quite designed to be soaked in transmission oil. Had a good look in the manual, but didn't help me much. Hope you can fill me in on this one.

    Kind regards, Nicola

    Hi Tom,

Got the seal from Cars. Do you know if there are more complaints or is it just me who got the lemon.

    Kind regards, Nicola

    Hi tom,

I think for me to send it from Australia to the US will probably cost more then buying a replacement. Thanks for the advice anyway!!! Will keep it in mind.
