    67 GS Rear Axle Bearings

Does anyone know of a source for the unique rear axle bearing on the 67 GS 400. I have searched e-bay and autoparts stores/sites. Original Parts Group lists them, but has no specs (not sure they will work) and are 2-4 week back order. The number on the one I can read that I took out is RW507-4, made by Departure. The National bearing on the other side I could not read a number. The RW507-CRs that are said to fit the 1967 Buicks do not fit the GS.

Any experience changing and finding these bearing would be helpful. Thanks

    bearing

Try Drivetrain.com or DTS (drivetrainspecialists.com).. I'm not 100% sure if they have the axle bearings, but I got a bunch of rearend parts from one of the two places about 4 yrs ago. I got an Auburn posi carrier, 3.90 richmond gears, timken carrier and pinion bearings for my 66 Skylark GS with the 8.25 10 bolt. They were about the only two places I could find that carried the actual BOP parts and not just chevy, ford, and mopar. Your 67 should b the same rearend as mine.

I had this problem, and maybe one of the above services will have a bearing at a reasonable price. When I went searching some years ago, when I found someone prepared to offer me a bearing, it was about $100.00 per bearing!

The bearing is used in the GS and station wagon rear. I decided I didn't need the bearing that much and built a set of bushings to carry the more common, cheap bearing normally found in the rear. If you follow this link toward the bottom of the page you will find a description of my fix:

    Good luck

The sources did not have them but their suggested sources did lead me to Kanter Auto Parts that have them and many other parts for older Buicks. Thank you for the help.

I just bought those bearings last week

I got them from JDRace.com. Set of bearings, retainer rings and seals. Shipped them about a day after I ordered them, I have already installed one side and probably get the other side in today.
