Get a manual. The converters are not like what you have seen before. They do NOT slide out, they come apart a piece at a time. The most Important part of a DynaFlow is the TORQUE CONVERTER!!!!!!
Whilst the engine is out of my '60 Invicta I thought I'd see if I could find the source of an annoying rattle which happens during idle, but disappears as the revs pick up. The suspect is the flexplate, which although is not cracked may be a bit distorted causing the torque converter housing to spin a bit wobbly, and perhaps be touching the surrounding metalwork in the bellhousing as it spins at low revs. I wanted to take the torque converter out to see if there's any eveidence of this in the bellhousing. It slides out about an inch or so & then just stops. Shouldn't it just simply slide off or am I missing something really obvious?
Any advice welcome. Thanks Seamus
