carb spacer for 401/425 Buick Nail Head

I have a 401 and a 425 in different cars....They both seem to boil the gas out of the carb after I have driven them and stop..does anyone stock a phenolic or insulated spacer for the Carter AFB carb like came on them..

Are you sure the heat riser valves are opening?? Are they 1x4 intakes??? If they are they need a separater plate under the carb. You can make your own spacer out of aluminum the thickness you desire. Just need to double check hood clearances.

the 401 is bored to 413..it has a set of one off headers on it..no heat risers..The 425 is in a 64 Riviera..both are very strong runners...I just want to insulate the heat away from the carb..nothing now but a gasket. Not sure if you mean a single four barrel intake, but it is (not a 2x4) Not a spread bore, just an old Carter AFB..I was hoping someone made a insulated spacer...We can make a couple of them if none are available..Plenty of hood clearance for a decent spacer..

    carb spacer......

Yep,,, there is supposed to be, a thick heat proof, type gasket,, then a metal heat shield and then the carb... or some people put a thin paper gasket between the carb and heat shield....all of that will definitely cut down on the amount of heat going to the carb from the intake manifold.... this is the original configuration from the factory.... like Tom says ,make double sure that the heat riser valve/s are not stuck....

I have found quite a few carbs mounted without the metal heat shield and the exhaust will run right under the fuel chamber and eat a hole through it over time.
