Thread: Heater always on

    Heater always on

I have a 1960 Electra 225, and the I can always feel warm air in the car. Fine in Winter, but not so great in Summer. Question is - where to start to isolate the problem. The cables all work smoothly and appear to be actuating - a least those I can see. According to the manual, there seems to be about 3 vacuum switches and the water control valve. Where should I start looking ?

If the air is always warm, your water control valve is not closing. If it's operated by a vacuum motor, first remove the line that operates this motor and apply vacuum from some other part of the engine. If the motor now works, the operating switch is faulty. If nothing changes, the motor itself will need to be replaced.

Thanks. Any idea where this motor is located ? Inside the heater box on the firewall ?

This valve is mounted on one of the heater hoses coming from the engine. It controls the water flow from the water pump.
