Yes, let me swing into action and get out my Daily Production Reports! (and reading glasses)
Codes W09 or A2-- A2 on the order sheet.

Hmm, listed @ daily production reports as A6 (High Perf 300 4bbl engine) + B2 (Super Turbine Transmission)

I get 15786 LeSabre "standard" Sport coupes

    45237 A6 engine options 8217
    +B2 SuperTurbine 6469

I get 21049 LeSabre "Custom" Sport coupes

    45437 A6 engine options 14916
    +B2 SuperTurbine 12713

    Nice find! Cheers,

    Ted

    Ted, thanks a lot
Your production number 15,786 is different from listed 13,843, why??
1966 buicks are equiped with 340 engines, not 300??
A6 code is for all high performance engine or 300-4V only??

I need glasses! These are numbers for the '65 model. Unfortunately I do not have the data for 66 LeSabres! I am sorry I read your post wrong.
Anybody out there with the #s for '66?

If 1966 LeSabre sport coupe overall production is smaller from 1965, "400" package is also smaller , I think??
It could be about 4,500-5,000 "400-s" from all 13,843.

This LeSabre have orginal 73 kmiles, excelent interior, factory paint and all matching#, running condition, some body works are needed.
Is it rare car?? What about Value??

Hi, I'm new to the site and was looking around. Your LeSabre 400 question is an interesting one. I was selling Buicks in 1966 and remember a lot of stuff pretty well. And some stuff not as well. The "LeSabre 400" was a package applicable to the LeSabre. This is for sure. The package consisted of the 340 inch engine with a four barrel carb and the Super Turbine 400 transmission. It seems to me that it was code A9, but I might be wrong about the number. The LeSabre came standard with a 340 ci engine in 1966 and a 3 speed manual transmission. We didn't sell very many like this. If you found one today, it would be truly rare. Most, if not all, dealers routinely orderd thier cars for stock with automatic transmissions. That would be the S.T.300. (Buick buyers simply were not interested in shifting for themselves) In our dealership almost all LeSabres in 1965 and 1966 were ordered with the "LeSabre 400" option. The added cost of that option was really very little as compared to adding just the auto transmission only. And with the "400" option you got the added horsepower in addition to the extra gear in the trans. It really was a bargain. I have no production figures but, I believe from my personal expierience, the LeSabre 400 would be the most common of the LeSabres. The manual transmission with two barrow carb engine would be the rarest. I know you would like to have the rarer car but, instead, you have the better car. One thing that can be confusing is that there were two automatic transmissions available and both were called "Super Turbine" The thing is however, one was the S.T.300 (two speed) and the other was the S.T.400 (three speed which eventually was renamed Turbo Hydramitic 400 or TurboHydro 400) For your information, both had varible pitch tourque converters. I hope this helps rather than confuse.
