Exclamation 364 nailhead need help ASAP

new to the site, been building 1960 (lesabre) 364 nailhead for a friend got it running BUT

when i rebuilt the oil pump seems to be that the shaft is half inch too short to hook up to distributor, can i get a longer distributor, or do I need to pull engine back out to get to oil pump

    any help is much appreciated

No I believe you have to just remove the pan and take the oil pump out to replace the main long shaft of the oil pump gear. Do you have the old one? Measure to see if they are the same length. You could also have the incorrect gear assembly. Check the numbers on the gears and do a check to make sure of what you have and what you need. Also make sure the end of the distributor is correct for the pump gear boss.
    Thanks in Advance!
