how to remove 1940 Limited water pump?

What are the basic steps to remove the water pump from a 1940 Limited? Does the radiator need to be moved/removed first?

    water pump removal

nobody has answered so I will make a guess. I have a 39 Century and it can be removed without removing the radiator. But then its not a 40 or Limited, but as I recall the 40 looks like it had a little more room than my 39, it wasnt real easy but I did remove and replace my water pump without moving sheetmetal or rad. Remove all hoses and then the fan, a ratcheting closed wrench may help. Remove pump out whichever side looks easier. [be very careful of radiator damage when moving pump and fan out. see reference from 52 Buick manual for additional info its similar in general to earlier Buicks.

    good luck

    This is very helpful.
I'll get the gaskets then take a shot at removing/replacing the water pump.
    Thanks.
