I ALWAYS use what's called the "Over Lap" method. I don't have the straight 8 firing order in front of me. I will use am example I know which is the "NailHead". The firing order on the "Nail" is 1-2-7-8-4-5-6-3. Put the first 4 cyls. on top & the last 4 under the 1st. 1-2-7-8
4-5-6-3 When #4 cyl. is on overlap, meaning the exhaust valve is closing & the intake valve is starting to open. When they are open evenly #1 cyl. is ready to adjust & the timing mark should be pretty close to being at 0. And down the line, every 90*,
2-5/7-6/8-3 understand????? And to adjust the last 4 you would reverse the numbers. 4,#1 would be on overlap & again the timing mark will line up to 0 or very close.
