Decoding Help for a 1947 Buick Super

    Hello,

I was looking to have a data plate decoded for a 1947 Buick Super Convertible. It is currently maroon but I see black underneath in some areas where there are chips. Any help would be greatly appreciated with decoding this tag. Thanks in advance.

    1947 Model 56-C
    Style No. - 47-4567
    Body No.- L25550
    Trim Number- 44
    Paint No. - 1
    Top- ACC

    Thanks
    Mike

Decoding help for a 1947 Super

The paint number 1 translates to Carlsbad Black. Painted in nitrocellulose lacquer the finish looked a foot deep. Holding a ruler verticle to the paint you could read at least 12 inches deep..

Are you interested in what the upholstery was also?

Thanks for the quick reply. That would be great if you could provide the upholstery info as well and any other information you would deem helpful. I appreciate the help.

Decoding help for a 1947 Super

Upholstery for a 56c in 1947 had a number of 60, 61, 63, 64, and 65. Can you take another look at the trim number? The wheels should be Carlsbad black with French White stripes, or optionally Dante Red with French White stripes. If Dante red it is specified by the number 011
My information is dated 8-1-47. So it is possible this car was built after that date and a differnt trim number used.

    Re: Decoding 1947 Buick

    Hello,

Thank you again for taking the time out for this. It is very much appreciated. I am enclosing a J-Peg image of the data plate so that you can see it first hand. Trim on there is 44 so it may have in fact been after that date. Thank you and I look forward to your response.

    Trim 44

Possibly an extremely late production car,

Trim Code 44 does not appear until the 1948 model year.

44 = Tan Bedford Cord and Red Leather
