I would personally think you will be time and bucks ahead by trying to find a 401/425, or to keep trying. Any time you switch engines, there are all kinds of headaches, like transmission compatibility, radiator hoses, wiring, mounting, etc. You really have to have some fabrication experience to get it done right, IMO. Plus, an '86 305 ain't exactly a tower of power. I Riv tips the scales at over 4000 pounds, so you're looking at poor acceleration and fuel mileage. Finally, almost nothing is cooler looking than a Nailhead. If you're serious about going small block Chevy, you may want to try out the HAMB online. Those guys will fabricate anything. Plus, since Nailheads are so cool, you may find one for sale over there. Good luck.
