Hey guys I hope someone out there can help me I'm trying to remove the manual window crank from the back door of my 1961 Buick LeSabre 4 door, but looks like there is a clip holding it in place any ideas how to release it?
There is a horseshoe shaped clip holding the window crank to the shaft. Most auto parts stores will have a tool that safely removes the clip allowing easy removal of the window crank. The tool is flat with a slot cut into the end and normally has a bent end at the other end that can be used for pushing the tool to remove the clip. If the clip is installed the direction that the factory originally put it in, you should use the tool from the knob end of the crank pushing it the other directing while flat against the door panel. This will slide the clip enough to allow the window crank to come off of the shaft. Before you put the window crank down, slide the clip back onto the window crank so the clip does not get lost.
Best Regards,
Ron
