URGENT - 1956 trunk pans & door mechanism

    Hello from Germany,
i am searching for trunk pans for my 56 Century 4door Riviera (Serie 63).
I found some pans at Ebay USA, but the dealer will not ship to Europe. Does anybody knows a dealer for those pans?
I also need the internal door mechanism for all four doors (espacially from the door knob to the lock)
Thank you very much and soory for my bad english

    Hi there,

    very good question...

    Have you asked here:
    http://my.execpc.com/~sonoma/
    ...or here already?:
    http://www.classicfabrication.com/

I haven't seen any truck floors on their sites, but asking might help !?

If they have not you might give them a mail:
    http://www.wheatbeltbuick.com/

They probably have a good used one available. They will be able to help you with the door parts, too...

    Viel Glück !

I have a '56 Century 4dr. hdtp. I'm parting out. All the doors are intact & will assume all parts are there also. What do you need exactly??? I don't think the trunk pan is worth the time to remove.

    Sounds good !!!!

if you part out your Century i will ask you for more parts i need

    1) I need from all 4 doors the complet door Locking mechanisms (handle outside, knob, all rods, clips etc)
espacially i miss all connecting rods from the lock levers and so called bell cranks) I think it is the best way to remove your complett mechanisms.
    2) I need also the horn
    3) If shipping is not so expensive with an international shipper i need a hood

    and some smaller parts too.....

Frankly spoken, Jörg, that WILL be expensive ! You cannot ship this via any usual courier-/mail service (UPS and the like). You will have to use a freight forwarder, who will charge you for weight or volume of the part (whichever is higher) and I am afraid, decently wrapped and crated, these hoods have an incredibly biiig volume...
If you not have the possibility to pack this together with something else (see below) it is almost always cheaper to repair the hood you have.

And one other advice: If you want to ship big and heavy parts and coincidentally know somebody who is importing a car from the US, try to have your parts put into his trunk: You will save on shipping AND customs will only tax the car - no matter what's in the trunk !

Have a nice drizzling day up there North !

    Hello from Rendsburg

    thank you for your mail.
Sure I know how expensive shipping is. I brought my Buick last year from Nebraska to Germany. And of course i put lots of parts including additional wheels and rims, and and ..... into the car, trunk etc. to safe money.
Cause my car is a mild custom (all emblems and handles are shaved) i got problems with our so called "H-Kennzeichen". Know i must rebuild some parts. The most difficult part is the hood as you know.

    Hmmm...
    Any connections to Sweden ?

Friend of mine found the rear of his 1958 DeSoto smashed by a BMW a couple of years ago. Importing the parts from the US (especially the trunk lid) would have blown the costs through the roof and would not have been covered by the BMW-drivers insurance as they would have exceeded the estimated value of the DeSoto...

He found a lid in Sweden that the seller even dropped off in Hamburg on his way to the STREET-Mag-meeting in Hannover that year...
