Hi All,
I am getting ready to put my '55 on the road (4dr Century Hardtop). It's a leadsled and not a resto. Consequently, I am doing a few updates first. I would like to drop the car 3" in the front and rear. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what coils may work best for the front. I have heard 70s El Camino coils work...but maybe only for 2". I am not going to mess around on the rear (due to the taper) and am just gonna get a set of 3" Jamco Coils - as I have heard they are awesome. But I thought there may be a lower cost option for the front.
I am also doing a front disc break conversion using the Scarebird kit. I am thinking I am going to match it up with a 7" dual booster, dual master and a proportioning valve. All mounted in the same under-mount location using the original push-rod. I will keep you updated on what later-model parts I use, their cost and how it turns out.
For the future, I am also thinking of going to an electric wiper motor. Anyone have any advice?
Thanks.
Hi There
Don't know if it's any help to you or not, but I have just done this to my 55 over here in Australia. We used Holden HQ-HZ springs for the rear, and Ford Falcon springs for the front. We used lowered springs to drop it right down for the sled look.
ANy chance of you posting some pics of your 55? Heres a pic of mine
Cheers
Alex
