They made two transmissions one for series 40 and 50, and one for series 60 and 70 and 90
I purchased an engine and transmission for my model 41 but when I went to install it the trans output and the torque tube input seem to be the same so they cant connect. Does anyone know if they made more than 1 trans type for the buicks?

In 1939 ONLY Buick used a different transmission in the series 40,(also a one year trans in the 60 series) The '39 does not have the universal joint at the rear of the transmission, it is back about 2 feet. So, possibly you are trying to put in a series 40 trans. from some year other than '39, and it just will not work. Hope this is of some help.

Thanks for your help guy's
I just had the numbers checked and it seems to be from a '49 to a '52 40 series.
The guy I bought it from does have a 1940 buick and he said it was from that car but who knows?
So if anyone has a transmission from a 1939 40 series please let me know
