Does a 1970 350 c.i. A/T A/C Skylark use a throttle position solenoid to increase the idle RPM when A/C is running? Thanks in advance. Roy

It might depend upon if the car is a 2bbl or 4bbl and whether or not it has California or Federal emissions and whether it was an automatic trans or manual transmission car.
In some cases, the solenoids did not work and people took them off--in general. If that was the case, there might be an extra wire in the a/c compressor wiring harness near the carb.
In other cases, they were not used specifically to increase the idle speed when the a/c was on, but to use the solenoid to set the base idle speed and then to farther close the throttle when the engine was turned off to prevent "dieselling". Same basic solenoid, different use. Even though, some took them off.
The emissions decal would have a spec for "solenoid energized" idle speed, if the car had one from the factory, rather than just the normal base idle speed . . . typically.
I have a '70 Skylark Custom 350-2 w/factory air & THM350, California spec, but I don't recall if it had a solenoid or not.
Enjoy!

I think, most factory A/C cars had the idle solenoid. We have 10 Skylarks between 69 and 72 and I think they had the solenoids and wiring. I have a solenoid or two if you need one.
