So I am reading the manual for a 66 buick 340 and it says pack the oil pump gears full of petroleum jelly or the pump may loose it's prime. So I didn't do that and it is put back together can I just run the pump with a drill and screw driver through the distributor opening instead and get the pump primed? Or is this a bad idea and I should disassemble the pump again and get the jelly out?
Any help would be great!
The drill will work just fine but the oil pump is not hard to get to and just a few bolts hold the cover on.
