    215 identification

Can someone help me in figuring out what I have here? I looked at http://www.britishv8.org/Articles/GM...tification.htm as well as here, but didn't quite see what I was looking for. Please forgive me if it's right in front of my face and I'm just not seeing it.

    Thanks

By the format of the number it looks like you have an Olds, not a Buick. How many bolts do you have per cylinder head? What do the pistons look like?

6 bolts per head = Olds
    5 boltsper head = Buick

    Flat topped pistons= Olds
    Domed pistons = Buick

I'm learning these too... so bear with me...

    That's a Buick block.
    Only 5 bolts per cylinder.

yeah, there are only 5 bolts per head. The pistons also say Buick on them. Why can't I find anything about the identification code though?

because there's damn little in the way of documentation on these engines.

another possibility with your engine code is that it could be Pontiac numbers. Pontiac used the Buick 215 ( 5 bolts per cylinder ) from 1961 to 63. and as little documentation as there is on the Buick and Olds stuff, i've never seen anybody compiling anything on what was in the Poncho engine bays.
