Straight 8, 4 bbl, What do I need?

I just came across a junkyard Roadmaster with the Straight 8, 4 barrel set up. What do I need to take for a complete set up, beyond the linkage and the air cleaner? Is the exhaust manifold different?

yea the exhaust is a little different but not sure if it would make any appreciable difference. The exhaust collector in the center is one piece, whereas on 2 barrels its seperate pieces. I would take it and also the linkage. recommend getting everything attached to it not easy to get parts later. If the ex manifold is badly cracked and pieces missing it may not be worth fixing, tubing headers arent that hard to fab up.

Sort of thought I would need the ex manifold. All is complete, the last state "inspecton sticker" is 1956. I suspect it got "parked" and forgotten.

I am running into a lot of forgotten Buicks lately, ran into a '53 Riviera the other day.

That manifold will only fit the 320 inch engine.

That one is so "forgotten" that it is right into the ground, it is little more than "parts".

also that engine has the insert bearing rods which are sought after items. I know it would entail a lot of work, [putting it mildly]

What year did they convert to insert bearings? '49, wasn't it?

yes 49 was when they first had inserts. I see you didnt mention what year it was so I just surmised it was a 52. that manifold will fit all the 320 blocks. Lots of good interchangeable parts left on that Buick. The rear ends are usually good and have a tall gear that can be used in standard shift Buicks.

Your assumption is correct, it is a '52. I also assumed the interchange. I don't have a 320 on hand, but hope too soon.
