    Engine Paint

I saw a hot rod the other day that was candy apple red with an engine that was all chrome and a candy apple block...

do you suppose the block was powder coated??

ironic, the color for the LeSabre is candy apple red with nevada silver top - now I would like to match the 310 block; candy apple red with all silver or chrome running gear.

is there a high temp paint that comes in candy colors?
    tks

Browse through Eastwood's catalog ... I'm sure they have it:

You can low-ball it with Dupli-Color in a can:

Darn good article.. my 310 is sitting on the garage floor, pretty much bare block (just replaced the heads), but I can mask them (aluminum). waiting for the manifold paint (Eastwood), then I'll sandblast the exhaust manifolds. The intake manifold is alum also. rubuilding the little two bbl carb.. that'll do for the summer. I just rebuilt a 455 that I was going to drop in the LeSabre, but i think I will wait till gas prices go back down

I found an old timer restorer (40 yrs in the business), and turned the body over to him to put back together.

When I figger out how to post pics (I've tried a few times), I can post some progress pics.

Thanks for the url.. My 64 Wildcat just turned 94K, passed inspection.

I ve used standard car paints on the engine block and it will last for several yrs before it started flaking off. I bet on a trailer queen it would last forever

I just watched a block being painted on Muscle Car..
Looked up suppliers of engine paints and found a
metalic red that will make my block look great..
it might not be exactly candy apple red but close
    enough.

the 300 didn't have any paint on it - I do have to do a real good job of degreasing it.
