waterpump on '61 Lesabre

I recently bought a new waterpump for my '61. Everything matches up except, where the fan assembly goes. The neck on the new pump does not line up like the older one, which makes the pulley not in the right place. Everything is together except the fan and my belts. Any suggestions? I am probably going to try longer bolts.PLEASE HELP!!

When you say the neck, do you mean the hub where the fan bolts to the waterpump? Did you take it back to where you bought it to make sure the parts store sold you the right one?

I'd find out whether there was a different pump for your car depending whether the car has air conditioning. Maybe the engine in your car is from a different Buick unknowingly to you and the parts counter.

I looked at the NAPA web page and looked up a water pump for a '61 Lesabre. It didn't denote engine size (364 or 401). Here's what I found:

Part number WP58106 for cars with air cond.
Part number WP58105 for cars with no air cond.

If you still have the old pump, I'd take it to the parts store and see if they can match it up.

One other option is to have your original pump rebuilt. That way, you'll have the right one for certain.
